If you're like me, your list of Favorites (or Bookmarks, if you use Netscape) is a valuable resource. A resource you'd hate to lose if anything happened to your computer, right? So take a few minutes to make a copy of your Favorites (or Bookmarks) list every week. First, you'll have to find the list. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, your Favorites should be the whole folder called C:\Windows\Favorites\. If you use Netscape Navigator or Communicator, your Bookmarks should be a file called bookmark.htm. Mine is stored in the folder called C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\default\, but yours may live in a different folder. If you have trouble finding your bookmark.htm file, here's a quick trick. Add a new Web site to your Bookmarks, then use Windows' Start/Find/Files or Folders to search for "bookmark.htm". The one with the most recent Modified date and time is the one you're looking for (since you just added a new bookmark a minute ago). If you've forgotten why you should be using Favorites or Bookmarks, click here to learn more about that. If you need help making a back-up copy, click here for several different explanations of the process. Good luck! -- Charlie |
