I want to use Seam-A-Seam 2 and I am worried. Will it gum up my sewing machine? - Barbara B. Patricia Magaret and Donna Slusser respond: We both use Steam-A-Seam 2, and we love it. This product is great because both sides of the webbing are tacky. This means you can move and reposition motifs before setting them with steam. We have used it to make mock-ups of our Shadow Quilts for our workshops and for the samples in the book.
In addition, Donna has done a little machine applique using it, but hasn't noticed any gumming up of her machine. If she were going to use a lot of it, she would frequently check the feed dogs, the bobbin casing, and the needle. She also recommends you check with the sewing machine manufacturer before using any invisible iron-on webbing. In addition, ask the staff and teachers at your local quilt shop for their experiences and recommendations. Patricia would add that she does her applique by hand and has no idea how difficult it would be to use this product for hand applique. Good Luck! Where To Buy: Steam-A-Seam 2
