Sheila Toso, a new quilter within the last year, has found a practical and inexpensive solution to taking her design work with her. I use a vinyl, flannel-backed tablecloth as a portable design board. I hang the tablecloth, flannel side out, on the wall using thumb-tacks. The cotton pieces adhere to the flannel when I work with them. But moving the design board could knock off the pieces. So when I want to take my design to class or a guild meeting, I cover the pieces with a sheet and roll up the entire design board, pieces and all to take it with me. I recently did this to show my 15 star sampler pieces to the quilt guild in town, and it worked great. Thanks, Sheila, for sharing this easy method for moving works-in-process. This idea would be good for quilters who don't have a separate sewing room and work at the dining room table. It makes it easy to put your work away to use the room for another purpose. Questions?
