Quilter's Review Sampler

Piecing It All Together
I'm back from Houston and the International Quilt Festival, tired but excited to get busy making new quilts. The show was twice as big as last year. Quilts, vendors, classes, and food filled the entire convention center.
The quilts this year were wonderful, especially Hollis Chatelain's whole cloth quilt, which won Best of Show. You can see the rest of the winners here.
There were many special exhibits, like the antique Amish Quilts. My favorite regular exhibit is the Husqvarna Viking Gallery of Quilt Art. This year there were some interesting quilts that would be quite at home in the Museum of Fine Arts (which is high on my list of things to visit in Houston every year).
The most frequently heard comment at the show was, "I can't wait to get home to try this!" Be sure to put the IQF on your calendar for next year. It is far too wonderful to miss! I look forward to meeting many more of you at next year's show.
I'll be back in your inbox on December 6th.
'Til then, happy quilting!

P.S. Need to make an easy, charming gift? My new Charming Houses wall quilt pattern is a great way to assemble a quaint village scene using fusible web applique and 6" charms from your stash. You'll love the look -- see it here -- and making it couldn't be more fun!
